For thousands of years, saints and sages have clearly defined the real purpose of life and the practical means by which permanent well-being, happiness, and spiritual fulfillment can be experienced. This is what they have said:
2. Learn to have your life-enhancing desires easily fulfilled.
Desire to experience total health, well-being, harmonious relationships, the accomplishment of meaningful purposes, and rapid spiritual growth is natural and wholesome. All other desires should be renounced. Desires are impelling: they stimulate imagination and provide motivation to perform actions which will result in their fulfillment. Because your mind is a particularized aspect of the omnipresent Universal or Cosmic Mind, clearly defined desires, whether below the threshold of conscious awareness or consciously nurtured, tend to attract the necessary resources, events, and circumstances which will enable them to be actualized.
Swami Sri Yukteswar said to Paramahansa Yogananda, “If the object of one’s clearly defined desire does not yet exist, the universe will produce it for the person who desires it.”
3. Learn to have all of your real needs effortlessly satisfied
When you are established in awareness of wholeness, know that you are an individualized aspect of one, all-pervading Consciousness. Live in accord with the processes of nature and the impulses of God’s grace will spontaneously provide the resources and supportive events and relationships that you need.

Seven Lessons in Conscious Living
Lesson One

Each day is a new beginning.
It is useful for us to start every morning grateful for all of the supportive influences that make our life possible. There is the innate intelligence that beats our heart, digests our food, and keeps this body functioning. There is the environment, circumstances, and events which arise in accordance with our beliefs and desires. And there are all of those who grow our food, make our clothes, and provide for transportation and communication.
Beginning each day with gratitude for our many blessings sets the tone for our day, assists us to live in harmony with Nature, and fosters our health, happiness, and spiritual awakening.
