Subject: Thank You and Notice of Extended Holiday Schedule (Sept. 4–8)

Dear McGaw Members,

Over the past several weeks, McGaw YMCA staff have been encouraged by the outpouring of support we have received from you, our members. Thank you for taking the time to write us emails and share your testimonials in person highlighting your recent experiences at McGaw.

Celebrating Our Y
This summer, McGaw provided safe and affordable housing for the 172 men who live in McGaw’s residences and provided quality programming for more than 200 children, keeping our youngest community members healthy and engaged in learning activities. Camp Echo kicked off the summer with our new Family Camp program, which provided a safe and rejuvenating experience for 508 people from 128 families in the first eight sessions, and we are excited to offer a new Family Work & Learn at Camp Echo option through September.

While many of our members have enjoyed virtual and outdoor fitness classes this summer, we’ve also welcomed nearly 1,000 members back each week to our Fitness Center and the newly designed HIIT (high-intensity interval training) & Cycle Studio with in-person reservations spaced throughout the day. Based on member feedback, we are now offering a mask-only hour in the Fitness Center at 2:15 p.m. each day. Our MYST swim team is back in the pool, and more than 500 adult members scheduled and enjoyed pool times last week at McGaw.

Celebrating Our Staff
Like many organizations on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, McGaw staff have worked tirelessly since March to maintain safe housing for our resident members and to do what it takes to help keep everyone healthy and safe since our building reopened to members in June. Between learning how to work in a virtual environment, implementing new safety precautions, keeping the building clean, supporting our McGaw residents, managing family needs and more, it’s a tough time for everyone – which is why it’s more important than ever for McGaw to show our appreciation for our staff.

In keeping with our commitment to improving health and well-being for all, we are extending our regular Labor Day weekend holiday schedule by four additional days to provide McGaw YMCA staff with much-needed respite.

The McGaw YMCA will be closed for an extended Labor Day holiday schedule September 4–8, 2020.
The main building at 1000 Grove Street will be closed beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, and will reopen to members at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9. Members can continue to use the online registration system during this time to reserve time for when we open on September 9. You can also always take advantage of McGaw’s virtual offerings found on our website.

Please join me in thanking our incredibly dedicated staff and thank you for your unwavering support of the McGaw YMCA.
