Subject: UPDATED - Reopening The Fitness Center!

Updated 2:40 pm, 06/20/2020

WHAT'S NEXT FOR OUR REOPENING
We expect to receive the state guidelines that will allow us to open our fitness center as of June 29th. Your safety—and the safety of all our members, program participants, staff and volunteers—is our number one priority. When you come back, things will look a little different.

Here’s an overview of changes as new spaces and programs begin again:
  • Reservations will be needed for any visit—Fitness Center, group exercise class, or personal training.
  • Number of members per hour will be limited.
  • Members and staff will receive wellness screenings when entering the building.
  • Masks will be required upon entry and in common spaces but not while exercising.
  • New entrance and exit based on your reservation.
  • Physical distancing in common areas and 10 feet in Fitness areas.
  • Frequent disinfecting of equipment by staff and members after use.
  • Please note: locker rooms will not be available at this time.
You can expect to get more details about reservation information for the Fitness Center and our new group exercise classes by Wednesday June 24th.

This communication will also include more details about the pool opening which we expect in early July. Thank you for being patient as we plan for their use.
UNTIL WE SEE YOU IN PERSON
Please take advantage of our outdoor group exercise, one-on-one personal training and virtual class offerings. It has been a fantastic week of seeing our members in person all week.
THANK YOU
McGaw YMCA is known in Evanston as a nonprofit dedicated to keeping our community healthy, safe and thriving for all. McGaw members like you make our impact possible.

Thank you for staying with us during these challenging and changing times. Thanks to your support, McGaw YMCA was able to:
  • Provide stable housing for the Men’s Residence Program; the annual need for rent subsidies doubled in April alone
  • Ensure our Residents had access to food, hygiene items and health care when needed
  • Connect our health and wellness programs virtually with recorded and live class offerings
  • Curate education and activity resources for our early childhood and afterschool programs
  • Collaborate with D65 and City of Evanston through MetaMedia to keep STEM programming going for middle school youth
  • Pay the cost of staff health benefits, even for temporarily furloughed staff, until we can fully reopen
You were here for your community when it needed you most, and we remain here for you.

We're excited to see you soon. Together, we are a better us.
