Subject: We can't wait to see you!

SAFETY IS OUR PRIORITY
As we prepare to reopen our doors, please be assured that your safety - and the safety of all our members, program participants, staff and volunteers - is our number one priority.

These new protocols will be in place beginning June 15th to ensure safety for all:
  • All employees will be trained in health and safety protocols prior to reopening
  • McGaw YMCA staff and members temperatures will be taken upon entry to the building
  • Face masks are required by all who enter the building
  • High touch surfaces and high use areas will be disinfected hourly
  • One-on-One Personal Training clients will enter through the accessible entrance located next to the alley off of Lake Street
  • Group Exercise Class participants will meet outdoors, locations to be shared with registration
OPENING ON JUNE 15TH
Our reopening will be a phased approach that aligns with State of Illinois Restore Illinois plan. Updated guidelines were sent to us on Sunday, May 24.

Here is what that means for McGaw YMCA starting June 15:

  • One-on-One Personal Training by registration
  • Outdoor Group Exercise – classes of 10 or less including the instructor using a reservation system; no walk-ins will be permitted
  • Continuing virtual class options
Registration information will be sent via email and available on our website on June 8th for One-on-One Personal Training and Outdoor Group Exercise options.

Facility and programs not included in Illinois' Phase 3 Plan are:
  • Pools, whirlpool, saunas, steam rooms
  • Use of fitness center if not being used for personal training
  • Indoor group exercise
  • All courts: gym, raquetball, squash
  • McGaw locker rooms will not be available
Please know we are thinking about our entire membership and can only open programs as the State of Illinois allows. As we plan for Phase 4, we look forward to welcoming you back.
WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU
As we reopen, tell us how we can support your wellness and comfort in our spaces. Please take our survey.
THANK YOU
McGaw YMCA is known in Evanston as a nonprofit dedicated to keeping our community healthy, safe and thriving for all. McGaw members like you make our impact possible.

Thank you for staying with us during these challenging and changing times. Thanks to your support, McGaw YMCA was able to:
  • Provide stable housing for the Men’s Residence Program; the annual need for rent subsidies doubled in April alone
  • Ensure our Residents had access to food, hygiene items and health care when needed
  • Connect our health and wellness programs virtually with recorded and live class offerings
  • Curate education and activity resources for our early childhood and afterschool programs
  • Collaborate with D65 and City of Evanston through MetaMedia to keep STEM programming going for middle school youth
  • Pay the cost of staff health benefits, even for temporarily furloughed staff, until we can fully reopen
You were here for your community when it needed you most, and we remain here for you.

We're excited to see you soon. Together, we are a better us.
