Dear Friends of Wilbur:

Most of the time, when we come to Wilbur we stay on the grounds. I find my time at Wilbur goes by much too quickly for my taste.

Once in a while we venture out for exercise or a change of scenery. A bike ride into Bear Valley. A car ride to nearby organic Full Belly Farm, on highway 16 just north of Esparto. A country dirt road drive to Lake Ladoga and Stoneyford.

At Wilbur, when I want to be alone a walk in the Nature Preserve is perfect. When I want conversation additional to Jolee, there are always interesting people to chat with in the Hotel.
We start, and end, every day with an immersion in the natural medicinal waters. The morning bath energizes and the evening bath relaxes the way to sleep.

I love the absence of cell phones and internet but what I enjoy most is the absence of noise and the presence of nature. For me, Wilbur is prescription grade nature. Soak it up.

Say hello next time you visit us at Wilbur. We're the tall couple with the laughing eyes and smiling hearts,

With affection for each of you,

Richard

Dates for upcoming Wilbur events, workshops, specialized practitioners, and closures
are noted on our Wilbur event calendar on our website.
Friday, May 26 - Monday, May 29 | Complimentary to Wilbur Guests

Spending time under a dark country sky, far from the distracting noise and lights of the city, can help us to reconnect with ourselves, with the Earth as a planet in space, with the natural cycles of time, and with the larger cosmos. During Memorial Day weekend, Friday May 26 through Monday May 29, Wilbur's own amateur astronomer, Anthony Barreiro, will be our guide to the springtime skies. Throughout the weekend, we'll braid together three complementary ways of knowing the sky: practical knowledge of how things look and move in the sky, traditional images and stories of the sky handed down from our ancestors, and current scientific understanding of stars, planets, and galaxies.

June 12 - 14, 2017

A multi-media approach to watercolor landscape painting using crayons, pencils, markers and watercolor. This workshop is not about careful and precise use of the materials, it is about quick expression and learning how to take chances and experiment. We start with a few warm up exercises and learn basic techniques of paint application and control. The purpose of the workshop is about letting go, creating freely, trusting instincts, being fearless. All artist levels welcome, no experience necessary. Nominal fee of $25 per person, per session
June 18 7:00 PM to 8:15 PM

Whether we like to crochet, make music, cook or use our electronic devices, our hands are our instruments. In this workshop Robert will introduce you to a simple yet very effective sequence to keep the hands fluid and open. Most people don’t realize how much better their hands can feel and that it’s possible to have them come “alive” in a relatively short time. Prepare to be amazed!
Robert de Nies has been practicing Thai massage at Wilbur Hot Springs for fifteen years. Recently he has presented this workshop multiple times at a well-known massage school in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Robert also teaches yoga throughout the Bay Area and occasionally at Wilbur.
