SFMA SAFETY COMMITTEE

The SFMA is pleased to announce the launch of its newly formed SFMA Safety Committee. The Safety Committee is a resource and sounding board for members seeking guidance to identify the proven resources to improve or establish safety programs. The mission of the Safety Committee is to unite a group of Environmental Health and Safety and Risk Management professionals within the SFMA membership to create opportunities for networking, collaboration, and roundtable discussions. The goal is to provide members with access to subject matter experts for developing a safety culture and providing advisory services on safety training, supplies, compliance references, and risk management practices. BOARD SPOTLIGHT

Mary Rousseau is a graduate of Florida State University and Nova Southeastern University. She has 20+ years of experience in Sales/Marketing for major companies including Motorola and Harris-3M, much of that time spent managing the Education market. Mary joined Broward College in 2005 as a full-time faculty member and has been Associate Dean since 2008 for Business/Computer Science. During this period, she led a team of faculty that developed an Associate degree and a Bachelor degree in Supply Chain Management. 

She has directed two grants from the Dept. of Agriculture and Dept. of Labor for Supply Chain Management initiatives and recently returned to the position of Associate Dean, administering the Supply Chain Management, Engineering/Manufacturing Technology and Building Construction Technology programs. In addition to Broward College, Mary is President for the South Florida Roundtable for CSCMP, and most recently a Board Member for SFMA.

FLORIDAMAKES ADVOCATES FOR MANUFACTURING IN TALLAHASSEE
FloridaMakes, with representatives from 8 Regional Manufacturing Associations and over 35 manufacturing companies convene in Tallahassee, Florida this week to advocate for the advancement of the manufacturing sector in the State of Florida. Palm Beach County Unemployment Rate Drops to 3.6 Percent From 4.6 Percent One Year Ago; More Than 10,000 Jobs Added Over Year

The year 2017 ended with among the lowest unemployment rates in a decade for Palm Beach County – 3.6 percent for December 2017 -- down from 4.6 percent a year ago and below November’s 3.8 percent. The county’s rate was lower than the state’s 3.7 percent and the nation’s 3.9 percent (all numbers not seasonally adjusted), according to reports released today from CareerSource Palm Beach County and the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.
