Subject: Knitlet - the 17th one + KAL 2020 weeks 1&2

Hello Friend,

I'm so happy to knit with you today :)

This month yarn is Sport Socks from Red Heart. I used 3 mm (US 2,5 / UK 11) size needle. This time I wish I'd used a size smaller needles to be honest, but it looks fine.

Here's the swatch:
For this swatch, you'll need 17+1 stitches. I love this stitch with sock weight yarn. I think it would be an interesting reversible lace pattern if you knit wrong side rows instead of purling.

For this swatch, I casted on 35 stitches (I was too lazy for edgings).

I will repeat Week 1 instructions, just in case.

Week 1 Sept 7 to Sept 11 (notes and pointers are found in the blog post here)

Day 1

Take larger needles and cast on 425 stitches using the knitted cast-on method (https://pattern-duchess.com/knitted-cast-on/).

To make the process easier I would recommend you to place markers on the cast-on row as follows (this is only for the cast on and won’t make sense for the pattern, but you might find it useful to use the center marker and markers for the edges):
3 / 42 / 42 / 42 / 42 / 42 (centre marker) 42 / 42 / 42 / 42 / 42 / 2

Now take smaller needles, and work as follows (you will be working with smaller needles from now on):

Row 1: sl st, p1, k to last 2 sts, p2; (425 sts)
Row 2: sl st, k to end;

Take the cast-on process slowly. Don’t hurry, take your time. Count your stitches many times to be sure you have the correct amount. If you have a few stitches too many or a few stitches too short (like below 5), don’t frog. Just knit some of them together or pick some up. If you have more than 5 stitch error then I’m afraid you need to start all over again <3

Day 2

Row 3: sl st, yo, p1, k2tog, (k5, yo, k1, yo, k5, sk2p) x 29 times, k5, yo, k1, yo, k5, skp, p1, yo, p1; (427 sts)
Row 4: sl st, k to end;
