Accomplish your Purposes

To have your needs satisfied and your wholesome desires fulfilled, you have only to learn to cooperate with the universal, impersonal laws of mind and Consciousness which determine that every cause produces a corresponding effect. The thoughts you habitually think, the states of consciousness you maintain, and the effective actions you skillfully perform (when necessary) will then actualize (manifest) the results you desire.

Be responsible for your behaviors: for what you think, how you feel, and what you do. Don’t complain, make excuses for irresponsible behavior, or think or say that life isn’t fair or that God doesn’t care about you. Immature mental attitudes, unregulated emotions, and reluctance to exercise will power (the ability to make decisions and implement plans to accomplish goals and purposes) are debilitating behaviors. Think rationally. Stabilize your emotions. Learn to make wise decisions. If you make a mistake, you will know what not to do in the future. Cheerfully and skillfully implement plans that will enable you to accomplish your purposes without being mentally or emotionally attached to your actions or to their results. It is natural for you to be healthy, happy, prosperous, and successful.

Roy Eugene Davis - Guru
Roy Eugene Davis was the most authentic person I ever met. He was comfortable with himself, Self-confident, and always grounded. He was open and could be playful, with a great sense of humor. He was my guru.

The Sanskrit word guru is often defined as teacher, dispeller of darkness, and literally means "heavy": the guru encourages stability and grounding as we explore the inner realms of mind and consciousness. Unless we are firmly anchored in Reality we can become spacey, obsessed with phenomena, imagination and fantasy. Roy always encouraged us to be practical and to live simply, freely, and awake in this world. Then our increased awareness, sensitivity, compassion, and empathy towards others don’t overwhelm us, or result in distraction from the goal of full Self- and God-realization.

The guru serves as a direct conduit to ultimate Reality. Having purified himself he is able to be fully in the moment for the disciple without expectation for results. The ‘heavy’ stability of the guru supports disciples in accomplishing their goals and fulfilling their higher purpose. I was tested by Roy many times over the past 50 years, sometimes failing more often than I passed. His test was to ask me to follow inner guidance and fulfill my purpose. It was difficult when my “inner guidance” was based on some unfulfilled desire from the past. Through experience I finally learned to discern the difference between true inner guidance and impulsive, conditioned reaction.

The friendship, love, inspiration, encouragement, and support of Mr. Davis is the greatest blessing in my life. Jai guru!
