The EC has recently published a Communication summarizing the key findings of the interim evaluation of Horizon 2020 and of separate evaluations undertaken at European level.
- New call for project proposals under the EU Health Programme
Following the adoption of the 2018 Work Programme of the Third EU Health Programme, the EC opened the corresponding annual call for project proposals. The applications can be submitted on the research & innovation participant portal by 26 April 2018.

- How should the EU fund and nurture breakthrough innovation?
On 26 January, the independent High-Level Group of Innovators who advises the EC published a report including recommendations on how the European Innovation Council (EIC) should contribute to accelerating breakthrough innovation

- New Commission guidance on data protection rules
Ahead of the entry into force of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on 25 May 2018, the EC has published practical guidelines.

- The Czech Republic joins the EuroHPC declaration
By signing the European Declaration on High-Performance Computing (Euro-HPC) the Czech Republic becomes the 14th country to participate in the European initiative to build world-class computing and data infrastructures in Europe.
- Public consultation on EU funds in the area of investment, research & innovation, SMEs and the Single Market
Before summer 2018, the Commission will propose the next long-term budget for the European Union (EU) after 2020, the so-called “Multiannual Financial Framework” (MFF)

The recent EU funded project InSilc has started working on a digital clinical trial platform for assessing coronary artery treatment in a virtual environment.
