Over the last six weeks all 11 Industry Reference Committees (IRCs) we support have held their first meetings for the year to finalise the draft 2020 Skills Forecasts and Proposed Schedules of Work which prioritise the skill needs of their industry sectors and propose future Training Package development activity. This year the IRCs have also developed an Industry Outlook to provide an annual update on the challenges and opportunities, employment and skills outlook for the industry sectors that each IRC has responsibility for.

Gas IRC visits ATCO Clean Energy Hub

Last week the Gas Industry Reference Committee (IRC) was hosted by ATCO at its Jandakot Operations Centre in Perth.

The ATCO facility includes an industry-leading Clean Energy Innovation Hub, regarded as leading a test bed for hybrid energy solutions, integrating natural gas, solar PV, battery storage and hydrogen production.

Integrated Logistics Support - Naval Shipbuilding

The Transport and Logistics Industry Reference Committee (IRC), on behalf of the Naval Shipbuilding IRC, will lead a project to develop up to five new Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Units of Competency and one or more Skills Sets to meet the requirements of the naval shipbuilding industry.
COAG releases draft VET reform roadmap

The Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Skills Council is developing a VET reform roadmap and last month released The Vocational Education and Training (VET) Reform Roadmap Consultation Draft. 
Public Safety IRC Chair Profile

In this month’s newsletter we continue a series of profiles featuring the Chairs of each of the 11 Industry Reference Committees (IRCs) we support. This month we profile the Chair of the Public Safety IRC, Mark Burgess.
